60 Second Interview: Frank Forencich (Exuberant Animal)


 

Who are you?

I'm Frank Forencich and I'm the creator and lead trainer for Exuberant Animal, a performance training company in Seattle, WA, USA.

I write books and lead seminars on training, performance and health. 

 

What is fitness to you?

Fitness to me lies in developing an intimate relationship with the natural world, especially in vigorous movement. It's a complete and integrated experience that includes, not just muscle and cardio, but sensation, attention and spirit. 

What are your goals?

I'm currently offering Total Animal Training to a variety of clients including corporate, schools and private gyms. As we grow, I'll be looking to hire and train more trainers in the Exuberant Animal method.

What is one of your main concerns in relation to health?

My main concern is that people now spend far too much time indoors, insulated and isolated from the natural world. We are in serious danger of forgetting our connection and relationship to the earth. The health consequences of this de-natured lifestyle are immense.

What is your favourite exercise/activity?

I love barefoot running, partner-resistance training and big spiral moves with the Animal Stick, all of it outside.

60 Second Interview: David Csonka

 

Who are you?

David Csonka. I'm an application developer at a university, and I blog about fitness, nutrition, and barefoot running.

What is fitness to you?

Being healthy, and unencumbered by physical limitations.

What are your goals?

To be as healthy as I am now, 40 years in the future.

What is one of your main concerns in relation to health?

Fitness and nutrition plans guided by misinformation and faulty "common knowledge". Specifically, the fallacious low-fat diet.

What is your favourite meal?

Something new I recently tried, a Meat-za. Burger patties with pizza sauce, bacon, cheese, and pepperoni on top. It was love at first bite.

What is your favourite exercise/activity?

Trail running, hiking. I love running out into the woods to experience nature, and take photos of flowers and animals. Being away from the noises and distractions of civilization is nice.

Who are you?

Chet Morjaria, founder and director of FK.UK  An organisation advancing functional fitness in the UK through collaborative events and education.

What is fitness to you?

Of course being functional.  To move and to perform for whatever you need, whenever you need to do it.  Fitness not just for life, but also other activities such as exercise and sports.

What are your goals?

Personally to see individuals getting the most out of life, in terms of the business - to help people do that.

What is one of your main concerns in relation to health?

The damage people are doing to themselves unknowingly.

What is your favourite meal?

Chicken (Nandos style)!

What is your favourite exercise/activity?

Picking up something heavy from the ground and moving it!

Who are you?

 Melissa McEwen, a paleo blogger and web developer.

What is fitness to you?

Being able to meet any challenge in a wild environment.

What are your goals?

My goal is to rebuild my body to function more like a child, moving naturally.

What is one of your main concerns in relation to health?

Digestive Disorders (such as IBS), which I personally conquered via the Paleo Diet.

What is your favourite meal?

Bacon and Mayonnaise

Swimming
